Online education is like a high tide. It is going to lift all boats” – Anant Agarwal, CEO of EDX. Agreed that challenges are going to be there but then, only the toughest of the seas makes a strong sailor. In the same way Tough times build great people.

The COVID era has helped us be prepared for any challenge. One such difficulty was teaching in a pandemic struck society. With the sudden imposing of lockdown on the crux of the opening of new academic year, the question in the minds of most students and teachers was – “How do we carry on classes, especially for the board classes i.e twelfth and tenth?”

Some schools picked up pace and started teaching online through Zoom, Google Classroom, Google Duo etc. It was indeed difficult to arrange all requirements such as PC, Microphone, Camera, E Material, etc. but hats off to those schools who efficiently managed to gather all material and work tirelessly giving a hundred percent by learning about the new technologies and teaching even in such miserable conditions.

We have been constantly discussing and debating about the pros and cons of E-Education, but no one had expected a sudden turnover of events. What was only subjected to a matter of discussion was now really taking over as the only alternative possible. There were two sides to this sudden transition.

One -“Online education was a boon as it saved precious months of students. Though people were skeptical about its implementation, online classes have actually proven to be a boon in the pandemic.”

Two – “It is sad that the children belonging to the rural areas were not taken into consideration. They were deprived of education for months due to lack of internet facilities in the rural area. It was complete injustice to their potential and caliber.”

As an individual I believe, online classes were a boon for the students who had proper facilities but a nightmare for the students deprived of internet. This was also one main reason why the board exams were postponed and later cancelled.
